    ABSTRACT

The Sinai Euchologion Gr. 959 was produced in the Middle East in the 11th century, drawing on a variety of liturgical sources: the patriarchal and palatine rites of the Capital, prayers for various intentions and needs that are also found in other Constantinopolitan euchologia, and rites and prayers specific to the other Chalcedonian Patriarchates. The Constantinopolitan euchological material is transmitted according to the textual recension known as “pre-iconoclastic”, through which the liturgical Byzantinization of the Middle East was carried out. This article provides an up-to-date description of the codex and identifies, in a prayer following the Matins Gospel, an additional Eastern influence by comparing it with the Syriac version published in 1962 by Juan Mateos, which has long been overlooked.
